Course Information

This 2-day (16 hours) ACLS course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader in either an in-hospital or out-of-hospital setting.

The course is based on the current New Zealand Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

It is suitable for all health professionals with a need for advanced skills, competence and confidence in emergency situations and who may be required to respond to a cardiovascular emergency.

This course has been endorsed by The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP).

 

Intended audience: Please note that this course is intended for health professionals who have not previously undertaken training in advanced resuscitation.

Health Professionals who are already working in an acute setting (eg. ED, ICU, CCU etc.) or who have previously completed an ACLS full course should enrol in the ACLS Recertification or ACLS Refresher course.

For those that require training with this, an IV Cannulation Course can be attended.


Preparation
In order for participants to gain the most benefit, and to achieve the assessment standards of the course, it is essential to complete the pre-course reading and the pre-course test prior to the course.

You can access pre-course reading material online and a secured login will be provided to confirmed participants three to four weeks prior to course date.

ACLS manual/book will also be posted to the address provided on the registration form 4 weeks prior to the course.

Course registration will close 4 weeks before the course date.

Course venue is at the Simulation Centre for Patient Safety, University of Auckland Grafton Campus, Bldg 502 Level B, 85 Park Road, Grafton, Auckland 1023


Please note: a minimum of 5 participants is required for the course. In the event of less than 5 participants the course may be deferred or cancelled.
